Specimen Requirements

Speicmen Type: Duodenal Biopsy

Patient Preparation: None

Collection Container/Tube:

Preferred/acceptable: A clean, plastic screw-cap container with no preservative

 Submission Container/Tube: If specimen is coming from outside facility place in dry ice to freeze immediately and transport on dry ice to maintain frozen state.

Specimen Collection Volume: 5-10 mg tissue

Special Instructions: Place specimen in dry ice immediately after collection and deliver to lab on dry ice ASAP. Send a completed "Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Pathology and Laboratory Medicine" requistion with specimen.
