Test is sent thru Mayo Medical Laboratory to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

Specimen Requirements

Patient Preparation: Preferable for patients to be off Urso or Actigal for 5 days before sample collection

Collection Container/Tube:

Preferred/Acceptable: Plain red-top tube

Submission Container/Tube: If specimen is coming from outside facility aliquot processed sample into a plastic vial for transport and freeze STAT, sending on dry ice.

Specimen Collection Volume: 3.0 mL (minimum 1.0 mL)

Special Collection Instructions: Send a completed "Cincinnati Children's Bile Acid by Mass Spectrometry" requisition with specimen
