Specimen Requirements
Patient Preparation: None
Collection Container/Tube:
Preferred: Clean, plastic leak-proof, screw-cap urine collection container with no preservatives
Acceptable: Any clean, plastic collection container, no preservatives
Specimen Collection Volume: 1.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) urine
Submission Container/Tube: If specimen is coming from outside facility aliquot a minimum of 0.5 mL of urine into a plastic screw-capped tube for transport. Specimen should be placed on wet ice for transport due to specimen stability
Special Instructions: Send to lab immediately after collection. Place specimen in wet ice if unable to send to lab immediately (removing from wet ice to send thru pneumatic tube system).
