SUBMIT ONLY 1 OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS

Collection:

Urine

  1. Aseptically collect 2.0 mL of specimen (minimum 0.5 mL)
  2. Place specimen in a screw-capped, sterile container.
  3. Label transport container with the PPID order label or patient's addressograph label with date and time of collection.
  4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly. Refrigerate if there will be a delay in transport.

 

Stool Specimen

  1. Collect a fecal specimen the size of a pea, or 2.0 mL of liquid stool
  2. Place specimen in a sterile, screw-cap collection container or stool collection kit.
  3. Label transport container with the PPID order label or patient's addressograph label with date and time of collection.
  4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.

Submission Container/Tube: If specimen is coming from outside facility, send in original collection container. Refrigerate specimen if there will be a delay in transport.

Special Instructions: Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature. Send to lab promptly. SPECIMEN SOURCE IF REQUIRED ON REQUISTION/ORDER FOR SPECIMEN TO BE PROCESSED.

Lab Processing Instructions: DO NOT PROCESS. Give specimen directly to micro.virology bench to process under hood for sterile conditions. They will aliquot, if needed, into a sterile,screw-capped transport container then deliver to sendout bench to send to Viracor.
