Diabetes autoantibodies assessment is helpful in identifying and managing patients at risk for development of type 1 diabetes.

Collection Container/Tube:

Preferred: Serum gel

Acceptable: Red top

Submission Container/tube: Plastic vial

Specimen Volume: 2.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Within 24 hours of collection, centrifuge and aliquot 2.5 mL of serum into a plastic vial.

2. Freeze within 24 hours and send frozen.


St. Louis Children's Test Catalog Note:

ATTENTION: Total whole blood collection volume to be sent to lab in 2 Gold SST gel tube is 5.0 mL (minimum 2.0 mL). Volume does not need to be same in each tube, just need a total of 5.0 mL.

NOTE: Order will be cancelled by lab and re-ordered as a Miscellaneous Lab Test until the new Mayo test can be updated in SLCH LIS system.
