Preferred: GreenNaHep Vacutainer®.(DARK green-top no gel Sodium Heparin tube)
Collection Volume:
AGE DEPENDENT
infants: 1-2 mL
children: 3-5 mL
adults: 5-10 mL

Special Instructions: |
Immediately invert tube gently 8-10 times after collection to ensure proper mixing of blood and anticoagulant (this will avoid specimen clotting). Maintain at RT or refrigerate if sample cannot be delivered within 24 hours. Send the EPIC Cytogenetics requisition that prints when order released with specimen. |
| NOTE: | If specimen type is Bone Marrow to be sent to outside reference facility please order as a 'Miscellaneous Genetics Test" and see "Bone Marrow General Guidelines". |
